VOTING UPDATE: Primary Day is June 23. We are providing you with the updated information on getting time off to vote on June 23.  Section 3-110 of the New York State Election Law, which relates to providing employees in New York State time off to vote, was amended effective April 3, 2020. The changes made are as follows:  Employees are eligible for voting leave only if they do not have four (4) consecutive hours either between the opening of the polls and the beginning of their working shift, or between the end of their working shift and the closing of the polls; and  Employees who do not have such a four (4) hour window are eligible to take off only as much working time as will, when added to their voting time outside working hours, enable the employee to vote, up to two (2) hours of which time must be without loss of pay.  The PSB 440-3 that was referenced is out of date.  We [More...]

DC 37 recently announced its endorsements for the June 23 primaries. While we’ve experienced significant challenges over the last few months, we still have an opportunity to elect strong candidates that will work on behalf of our members and the issues our union champions. Request an Absentee Ballot for Primary Day June 23

As you may have heard, Governor Cuomo has made a series of changes that will impact this year’s primary elections.    In an executive order, he has cancelled the special elections for Queens Borough President, and the 31st Assembly District. The Governor has mandated, through executive order, that the state Board of Elections mail all registered voters a postage-paid absentee ballot application. While poll sites will remain open, an absentee ballot offers everyone the safest way to vote during the coronavirus pandemic.  The Board of Elections plan is to mail these applications out by the middle of this month, but you can proactively request your ballot online by clicking here. Applicants must select “temporary illness” as the reason for the request.
