PSU: HELP FOR ANXIETY The Personal Service Unit (PSU) of DC 37’s Health and Security Plan would like to offer information and coping techniques for Anxiety. This past year has been filled with challenges, disruptions, fears and losses. As we transition to increasing in-person activities, we may feel additional Anxiety.  Anxiety is a mental health condition characterized by feelings of worry and fear that may interfere with one’s daily activities. Common physical symptoms are panic attacks, racing heart rate, chest palpitations, rapid breathing and irritability. Common psychological symptoms are racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating, catastrophizing, or obsessive thinking. South Asian Labor Group Sets Aggressive Political Agenda for 2018 Elections

By GREGORY N. HEIRES A South Asian American labor group plans to aggressively build its membership and fight for a Democratic takeover of the U.S. Congress in the midterm elections in 2018. Participants at the Alliance of South Asian American Labor’s 10th annual convention on Dec. 9 celebrated their growing political strength and membership. But they also sharply decried the attack on immigrants, middle-class families and the poor emanating from the White House and U.S. Congress. The group expects to work with coalitions and to take part in voter registration drives and get-out-the-vote efforts in 2018. Speakers highlighted the victories of South Asians in the November election in New Jersey, where ASAAL helped elect Democrat Phil Murphy as governor. South Asian Labor Group Holds Its Annual Convention on Dec. 9

By GREGORY N. HEIRES The Alliance of South Asian American Labor will hold its 10th annual convention on Dec. 9. The theme for ASAAL’s convention is, “South Asians in America, We are Stronger Together!” The convention, which will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. at DC 37 headquarters at 125 Barclay St. in Manhattan, will have panels on the 2018 midterm elections, challenges facing the South Asian community and organizing the youth. Several guest will speak at the dinner. The invited guests include state senators, and members from the Assembly, U.S. Congress members and labor leaders from around the country.
